Then the event began. Now about a half hour earlier, I took some video of one competitor's stereo. He had a small pick-em up truck with a HUGE box that blew thru the cab, and he only had one no brand 12" subwoofer and a 125 watt amp going to it, and it sounded damn good for what he had! Pissed off the neighbor for playing a low song, knocking her crap off of her walls.
Anyway, my bro goes to take some video of my numbers, and the fucking camera doesn't work! I didn't find this out till after my first run. I was so pissed off at that piece of shit camera! So, we have a little break to do whatever, and my friend Siek comes to see me compete. This is awesome! My family and friends came to see me compete! I was having a blast!
My first run I did with all the windows up, doors closed, and my HU cranked to 26/35 and my bass knob in the red. I managed to get past everyone's 135-139 Db range amazingly enough. I used 3 songs to bump: Lil Jon's "Throw it up", Lil Wayne's "A milli", and Young Jeezy's "Put on" (Kanye's verse). I had people looking in my back window checking out what all I had in there. They told me I was rattling really good back there, and did an awesome job!
Then we had our final run outlaw style. That is, windows down, doors open, fanning the doors, having people pushing on your doors and windows and roof, to keep the pressure inside the cab during the run. I let my front windows down all the way, but I only managed a 141.5 Db. Still best in my class, but one guy had 4 12" Kicker L7 subs and lots of power pushing them, and his first run nearly rattled a hanging mercury vapor lamp off the ceiling. He managed a 149 Db on his first go, and 147.7 on the outlaw one.
Then we came inside the install bay, and announced the winners. They started with Class "A" and did the winners, and when they got to Class "B" I told my friend "I'll be damned if I win anything, but even if i don't, I still had a very awesome time" Then the announcer calls my name for first place, and I walk over and get my trophy. My mind was going 90 miles a second! I can't believe I had won first place! I would have been surprised if I took 3rd, really.
Then we had the raffle for the prizes on the table. The guy with the big box and single sub, won 4 shirts, a hat, a $60.00 gift card to Feels Good Ink, and 2 10" Kicker comp subwoofers. Everyone was giving him shit, but it was all in good fun. And one of the other kids there one a $300.00 dollar 10" subwoofer in a bandpass enclosure. Then we all talked for a bit about what we got and stuff.
I met some very nice competitors, kids from 16 or so all the way up to 45 or 50 year old adults. I had the time of my life there, and hope to go to one real soon! And hopefully I will be upgrading my subwoofers from 2 12" Alpine Type R, to 3 Kicker Comp 12" subwoofers.
Stay loud,
Kevin

But that much air space and the tuning should be pretty damn good!
